Duties
Project Planning and Implementation:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, objectives, and activities related to legal information services for the host community.
- Coordinate and oversee the implementation of project activities to ensure -alignment with project goals and objectives.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and proactively manage project deliverables.
Financial and Administrative Management:
- Manage project budgets, including allocation and expenditure tracking for activities such as legal counseling, mediation, and litigation support.
- Ensure financial transactions are conducted in compliance with BNWLA and donor guidelines.
- Oversee procurement of necessary equipment such as portable projectors, Bluetooth speakers, and IEC materials.
Coordination and Partnership:
- Liaise with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and other stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and partnership for effective project implementation.
- Coordinate with Senior Legal Officer, Legal Officer and community volunteers to support project activities and ensure their roles are clearly defined and fulfilled.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local authorities, law enforcement agencies, and justice sector actors for referral and support services.
Capacity Building and Training:
- Organize capacity-building sessions for law enforcement agencies on national laws, human rights law, and relevant conventions (e.g., CEDAW, CRC) to enhance their understanding and support for vulnerable groups.
- Conduct sharing meetings with legal aid committees at district, upazila, and union levels to promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Implement monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the impact of legal services and community outreach activities.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports for BNWLA and donors, highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Organize client feedback meetings and conduct Key Informant Interviews (KII) bi-monthly to gather input on satisfaction with legal services.
Community Engagement and Documentation:
- Facilitate learning-sharing sessions with community members, local stakeholders, and government counterparts to document project lessons learned.
- Develop and disseminate Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to raise awareness and educate the community on legal rights and services available.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, preferably in legal aid, human rights, GBV or community development projects.
- Proven experience in managing donor-funded projects, including budget management and reporting.
- Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Additional Requirements
- Age at most 45 years
- Experience in Legal Aid and Human Rights: Demonstrated experience in providing or managing legal aid services, preferably in contexts related to human rights, refugee support, or vulnerable populations.
- Budget and Financial Management: Proven ability to manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial accountability in compliance with donor requirements.
- Monitoring and Evaluation Skills: Experience in developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project impact and effectiveness.
- Conflict Sensitivity and Cultural Awareness: Sensitivity to cultural and contextual factors affecting legal issues and conflict resolution in diverse community settings.
- Advocacy and Networking: Strong advocacy skills and experience in networking with government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations to advocate for legal rights and services.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in Bengali and English languages, both written and spoken, to effectively communicate with stakeholders and prepare reports.
- Computer Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with project management software or tools for reporting and data analysis.
